Overview
The tour highlights the artistic heritage of the city of Lucca. Several artistic sites will be visited in order to reconstruct the history of the city following a chronological order. It is therefore a classic tour that gives all those who visit Lucca for the first time the opportunity to get to know the places and characters that have characterized its history: from the first construction of the walls to the creation of Piazza Napoleone.

Itinerary

Stop 1
Brief introduction on the birth of the city of Lucca then the history of the walls from the Roman era to the Renaissance era.

Stop 2
Short stop in front of the Porta dei Borghi, a surviving gate of the medieval walls, located at the entrance to via Fillungo.

Stop 3
Square where once stood the Roman amphitheater.

Stop 4
Brief description of the Basilica, without internal visit.

Stop 5
Later we will head to Via Fillungo passing through via Fontana where the Pozzo di Santa Zita is located.

Stop 6
Brief description of the Torre delle Ore and its legend starring the beautiful Lucida Mansi.

.. alley that has maintained an unaltered medieval air while preserving the typical T-shaped shops.

Stop 8
Heart of the city. Description of its function from the foundation of Luke in Roman times to the present day. Coffee break and with the possibility of buying typical Lucca gastronomic products.

Statue of the famous Giacomo Puccini. Brief description of his birthplace and the possibility of shopping in the Puccini 'Bookshop'.

Typical medieval court ... description of its function.

Stop 11
Called Piazza Grande by Lucca. Description from the first construction of the palace, once a castle, of the captain and lord of Lucca, Castruccio Castracani degli Antelminelli; the construction of the square with Napoleon's sister, Elisa Baciocchi, up to the current 'Summer Festival' music concert festival.

Stop 12
Passing by the Teatro dei Gigli and the first cathedral of Lucca, Ss. Giovanni and Reparata, we head towards the cathedral of San Martino, a church full of sculptures and inscriptions that make the memory of medieval Lucca indelible.

Stop 13
End of the classic tour of Lucca. Possibility to be accompanied to the starting point: train station or Porta Santa Maria passing through the path above the walls.
