Mehrangarh Fort stands a hundred feet in splendor on a perpendicular cliff, four hundred feet above the sky line of Jodhpur. Beautiful memorial in marble often described as the “Taj Mahal of Marwar” was built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh ji ll of Jodhpur (1873-1895) by his son Maharaja Sardar Singhji (1895-1911) completed in 1906 A.D. The main hall has been built like a temple where puja (ritual) is also performed. The worship of ancestors is common to the Rajput clans. Jaswant Thada is a perfect example of architectural brilliance. The architecture is made of white marbles which are so fine that the outer surface of the whole building emits a warm glow during sunlight. Currently it exhibits a variety of paintings and portraits of Jodhpur rulers.

Clock tower is the prominent landmark of the old city, one of the oldest yet colorful markets of Jodhpur with well-adjusted 7,000 plus match-box sized shops. It’s a great place to ramble around which is surrounded by various colorful and aromatic spice shops to bazaars selling vegetables, sweets, textiles, silver jewelry, books, bangles, antique items, and handicrafts.
